We ask a question that gets to the very fabric of human existence. What’s more important to you: Art or Science?

Flying Beer

As my computer seems to be in good shape now I can return to “real” life. I’m not sure if this guy has to much time on his hands or what, but who doesn’t want a beer launcher? Sir, my hat is off to you, you’re a gentleman and a scholar.

The Beer-Launching Refrigerator

Life after Computer (HAND ME A FAT CAT)

I yearn for a time when we didn’t have computers or instant communication. I look back at a simpler time, while I look forward to a relaxing summer breeze. Damn Windows Vista and Final Cut Pro. I’m not sure what this has to do with beer, but I sure could use one. The past year has been full of great experiences (ie London, Summer in Minneapolis, New York, etc), but some kind of technological voodoo …

What’s Next, Organic Pabst?

Reading an article over at MinnPost a few minutes ago reminded me of a disturbing trend in the brew business in the last few years that has gained some momentum recently. MinnPost’s Mark Neuzil covered the move of large multinationals buying out smaller “green” companies. In this case it was Clorox’s (nothing says natural like the fresh scent of Clorox Bleach) move to buyout Burt’s Bees. As Mark mentions later, many of these companies …

St. Vincent at Cedar Cultural Center

Yesterday, after a friend talked me into it, I decided to see St. Vincent’s show at Cedar Cultural Center. St. Vincent is the stage name, or as she called it “superhero name,” of Annie Clark. Before her solo debut this past year she was member of The Polyphonic Spree and toured extensively with Sufjan Stevens. Whenever I hear a female indie artist who can shred I’m instantly reminded of Cat Power. The fact that they …

Crispin Glover on Letterman

As you may have read already the one and only Crispin Glover came to the Oak Street Cinema a few weeks back. Here is his famed interview from 1987 on the David Letterman show.

Crispin Glover on Letterman

A genius. To here about his latest happenings head over here.

Video Poll – The Central Corridor

Gov. Pawlenty has warned the University of Minnesosta that the Central Corridor has to come down in price. The tunnel that would go under Washington Avenue would cost $250 Million. So, should the proposed Central Corridor go straight down Washington Avenue, go under Washington, or skirt pass Dinkytown in the current rail trench and rejoin University near TCF Bank Stadium?

Grain Belt in the Movies

Though it would be nice to drink a beer at the movies, we all know that movie theaters are for popcorn and candy. Monstrous popcorn, with imitation butter, truly beautiful stuff. Any who, for those of you who didn’t know, I see myself as a sort of a film buff. This past week my little lady and I were watching the stupendous Badlands.

Legos and Beer!

So I was looking around this here interweb and I decided to search for beer videos on YouTube. I thought that I was going to find some beer commercials, which I did, but this is far better. So we all like Legos, in fact some people love Legos. Others out there love beer. So this for all of you out there.

Lego Beer Song…

Tegan and Sara – The Wake Interview

Twin sisters Tegan and Sara stopped at the Pantages Theater on Nov. 30, amidst an extensive tour of the United States. During a stop in Carrboro, North Carolina, Sara took time out from her busy schedule to discuss everything from Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla to National Public Radio. The duo has been touring in support of their great new album, The Con. If you happen to hit up Australia this December, you can …

It’s Miller Time™

A nice Weisse
A nice Weisse

As my cat licks his tongue across a damp window, I’m reminded of the precious things in life and a simpler time. When was this time you ask?

My answer is sweet and simple: Miller Time™. Yes I am indeed a Milwaukee native, born in the Brew City and bred just outside the city borders. Yes, my hometown, Cudahy, enjoys …

A New Metrodome?

The Vikings are pursuing a new stadium at the same old place. But there’s a catch. Much like the Twins and Wild owners, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf is asking for public subsidy. Should we pay for a partially private facility?

Art on the Rocks in Motion

A few hundred yards off the eastern shore and onto the frozen Medicine Lake lies a village of sorts. In a way, this village resembles the ice fishing communities that often dot the lakes during the winter. Instead of grime-covered trucks, quasi-public urination, and Coors Light cans, there are art car taxis, receptacles for empty beers, and one giant robot ride. Why hell, it is the fifth annual Art Shanty Projects!…

Tegan and Sara – The Con

Tegan and Sara - The Con
Tegan and Sara – The Con

To tell you the truth I’m not sure which one is Tegan, or for that matter who Sara is. Yes, I have seen some captioned picture of them being all cute and stuff, but I still can’t identify their voices as unique entities. However, when the twins join together in their …
