Everything in the world is made of Tubes. From the bones and veins in your body to the bottle of beer you are sipping on—TUBES! Whether it be the pipes and electrical wires that keep your home warm and watered or the macaroni noodles you are sending down your esophagus to your intestines, and eventually, a network of pipes. There is no avoiding Tubes.

Tubes are everywhere. Your fingers and toes are tubes, your arms and legs are tubes, your nostrils are tubes. Some people were even grown in tubes. But tubes are not limited to the space inside the human body.  Some of our most cliché sayings are about tubes. And hell, London even named their subway after tubes! Televisions were known colloquially as tubes for many years, and just recently, as the interwebs. In 2006, Alaska Senator Ted Stevens made a bold claim about the internet: “It’s a series of tubes,” he said.

Many celebrities, have taken this theory of tubes to another level and used it to inspire the masses as to their incredible role on our planet “Once you squeeze toothpaste out, you can’t put it back into the tube. The same is true with our words. Once we say something hurtful, we can’t take it back,” said Lebron James.

Another NBA great, Kobe Bryant also remarked on how tubes positively impacted him: “Dear Basketball, From the moment I started rolling my dad’s tube socks and shooting imaginary game-winning shots… I fell in love with you.

Talking Heads front man David Lynch discussed struggles in his life, “They say that negative things like stress, anxiety, tension, sorrow, and depression ‘squeeze the tube’ so ideas don’t flow through it,” he said.

But the most sensible words regarding tubes come from Public Enemy’s Chuck D: “I think that revolution means change. And if somebody feels like there’s nothing wrong, everything’s great even when it ain’t, why would they ask for a revolution? Just stick the tubes into me and just pump away.
Trees, blades of grass, and water towers. Airplanes, poles, and musical instruments, even a band! There is no denying that tubes are the fundamental building block of all that is. So regardless, continuing to live in this state of ignorance will send us nowhere, but down the tubes.
